An outstanding industrial achievement during recent years has been the development of quality control and acceptance sampling methods for the purpose of maintaining the high standards of manufactured products. It is equally important to make use of statistics in the engineering office in connection with the dimensioning of machine parts. This paper will be concerned with the dimensioning of assemblies, and will demonstrate how it is possible to maintain tolerances for proper engineering functioning, and at the same time widen the tolerances so far as production is concerned.
