This paper describes an application of both expert’s knowledge and fuzzy control to the automated design of structures subjected to coupled phenomena such as structural deformation, fracture, heat conduction and so on.
As a basic strategy of designing structures considering coupled phenomena, the “generate and test” strategy is generally adopted because of its simplicity and broad applicability. Although expert’s knowledge is often utilized as one of design modification techniques in the strategy, it is not so good at quantitative modification. Then a fuzzy control technique is introduced in the present study to improve its ability of quantitative design modification.
A two-dimensional model of the fusion first wall with a cooling channel is designed to demonstrate effectiveness of the present technique.
